text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;As actividades incluem um programa teórico sobre princípios e procedimentos de construção naval em madeira e técnicas de modelação de embarcações históricas e tradicionais e uma vertente prática em que cada formando constrói um modelo de uma Muleta do Seixal, à escala 1/30.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;O curso destina-se a jovens e adultos que pretendam conhecer os rudimentos técnicos de modelação à escala de embarcações históricas e possibilita a construção de um modelo de uma embarcação tradicional do Seixal, com rigor histórico e qualidade museológica.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; Trata-se de um ícone do Tejo e do Seixal e constitui um interessante objecto de estudo, tendo em conta as suas peculiaridades funcionais, técnicas e morfológicas.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;Há registos documentais que se reportam a embarcações denominadas &lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;“muletas” nos finais do século XVI e nos princípios do XVII, mas não é certo que haja correspondência entre o barco que a iconografia e a história consagrou como Muleta e as embarcações referidas no &lt;i&gt;Regimento dos Barqueiros&lt;/i&gt;, de&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;1572, no &lt;i&gt;Livro da Fabrica das Naos&lt;/i&gt;, de Fernando Oliveira, (circa 1580) e no &lt;i&gt;Livro das Grandezas de Lisboa&lt;/i&gt;, de Frei Nicolau de Oliveira, de 1620. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;Em 1880, o Vice-Almirante Pâris, nos seus &lt;i&gt;Souvenirs de Marine Conservés&lt;/i&gt;, onde publica os planos e os desenhos da embarcação que se tornou mundialmente conhecida, diz-nos que “ a Muleta é muito antiga…”, mas não avança com uma origem para o barco que, segundo se crê, andará por meados do século XVII. Pâris adverte no entanto que a muleta “ vai brevemente desaparecer”, confirmando assim um juízo final que Ramalho Ortigão já havia prenunciado nas &lt;i&gt;Farpas,&lt;/i&gt; que escreveu em 1876, onde se lê que “… as elegantes muletas do Seixal (…) infelizmente tendem a desaparecer da nossa baía”.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;O barco que é arcaico na forma do casco e bizarro na configuração do aparelho continuará, no entanto, a sua estranha forma de pesca de arrasto lateral, atravessada ao vento, até à viragem para o Século XX, sendo substituído pelos botes da arte da tartarenha, que prolongam a actividade até 1928.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;Do ponto de vista dimensional não existe um registo padrão para as muletas, cujo comprimento entre paralelas andará entre os 18 e os 25 metros ao que corresponderá uma tonelagem que poderá situar-se, respectivamente, entre as 80 e as 150 toneladas. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;A proa é redonda, a popa é fortemente encurvada, com painel ogival. O fundo é arredondado e a quilha pouco pronunciada. Tem um leme em forma de cimitarra com a sua parte superior, a cachola, a ser atravessada no sentido transversal por um pau denominado xarolo, em cujas pontas se fixam uns cabos chamados gualdropes e que servem para manobrar a embarcação. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;O convés pode ser corrido, com escotilhas de carga ou dispor de um largo poço, na ré, que vai de borda a borda.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;Arvora um só mastro fortemente inclinado para vante onde cruza uma verga latina constituída por uma só antena. O aparelho vélico é bastante complexo. Quando não está na sua função de arrasto, o barco enverga um grande latino triangular e uma vela de proa denominada polaca. Na faina de arrasto lateral enverga um conjunto de velas auxiliares determinado pelo mestre e que, normalmente, era composto por duas varredouras na ré e na vante por um conjunto de velas composto por uma varredoura, uma polaca, uma cozinheira, um pano da vara e dois toldos moletins.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;A tripulação era composta por uma campanha de 15 homens, dirigidos por um mestre e auxiliada por dois moços. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify; text-indent: 27pt; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Bookman Old Style;"&gt;O barco largava de Cascais e pescava no “Mar da Muleta”, numa área delimitada pelo Bugio, Cabo da Roca e Cabo Espichel. Em situações de mau tempo, a muleta arrastava as suas redes pelo fundo do Mar da Palha. O casco leva dois forros de madeira ( marupa e bétula) sobre uma estrutura de contraplacado marítimo.
